Update regarding the Maine NVC Network

The Maine NVC Network gathered in Augusta on April 22, 2011, to continue the job of building and strengthening the Network. We left this meeting with a good measure of energy, enthusiasm and joy. You can read the minutes here.

We would like to ask you to join in the work ahead of us, volunteering in a way that meets your particular needs for community and participation. email

At this meeting we approved the structure implied in these two diagrams. The circle of the committees will give you an idea of what sorts of volunteers are needed and we encourage you to step forward. We have found someone to act as short-term treasurer for the Network and we have a need for people who would like to look to fund raising to help underwrite the expenses of maintaining and expanding this Network and its outreach projects. To be in touch with the Network in a general way or with feelings or comments about these minutes, please write to this email and, to volunteer or inquire about volunteering, write to this email.

The next Network-wide Gathering, which had been scheduled for November 12, 2011, has been rescheduled for early spring 2012. The Steering Committee is considering combining an NVC Fun Day format with a meeting. If you want to communicate with the Steering Committee before then please contact this email.

Please check back here or on our News page, or subscribe to our newsletter or our yahoo group mailing list for an announcement of date and place.

Mission

The Maine NVC Network works to bring Nonviolent Communication
(as developed by Marshall Rosenberg) to Maine. We intend to bring this
life-enriching form for communication to people all around our communities, including:
  • community organizations
  • governmental agencies
  • schools and home-schoolers
  • parenting and childcare groups
  • for-profit and not-for-profit businesses
  • health, therapeutic and correctional institutions
  • professional associations
  • religious and spiritual communities
Aim

The Maine NVC Network aims to:
  • offer talks and presentations about NVC
  • act as a clearinghouse for NVC information within our state and the surrounding regions
  • serve as a resource for NVC study and practice groups

I will give you a talisman ...Recall the face of the poorest and the weakest man whom you may have seen and ask yourself if the step you contemplate is going to be of any use to him. - Mahatma Gandhi
